Memories of Summer

Well summer is really coming to an end and we are not yet out of August, cold drafts of autumn are definitely here (in our part of the world anyway. ) A few photos from the summer, Indra doing his Comic drawing workshop and a Comic page Slam from some of the artists at the Strange New Worlds Comics festival last July.

John Hicklenton Memorial event

Alan Mitchell and I ( Indra Shann ) went to John Hicklenton’s memorial event in Brighton last night. It was a very moving and inspiring event. Excellent prints of his work were displayed at the venue and the speeches given by his close friends made me aware of the extraordinary personality behind the pen. It was a real privilege to be there. Alan also got to meet up with his old writing mentor Pat Mills who he hadn’t seen for many years.

Bug Free Buzz

As you may of noticed there are a few little bugs crawling around on the buzzcomic.com website since we launched at the end of June, we are aware of these and they are being ironed out. By the second week of August we aim to have the entire website running perfectly and then we can concentrate on adding brand new and exciting features for the users of buzzcomic.com

Buzz is launched!

…but we are still keeping fairly quiet about it! Its beautiful but doesn’t have all the features on board yet and a few glitches, but we are very pleased with it.

We couldn’t keep too quiet though. We had a stall at the one day comics festival ‘Strange New Worlds’ It was a big hit over 1,900 attendees, which for a festival in it’s first year was a massive achievement for its founder Alan Mitchell. Buzz had a great day with lots of interest from children and adults alike. And lots of positive comments about what a good idea the web site was, and of course we had some on the spot sign ups and even some who uploaded their pics there and then! The atmosphere was very friendly and family orientated and the venue, ( an ex church ) was very beautiful. Big Dr Who theme as you’ll see from the pics and some top pro graphic novel artists in attendance including Glenn Fabry and John Higgins. Glenn and Alan led ’ Adventures in Comics’ workshops exploring the art of comic creation. Buzz Comic team filmed them and will be putting some highlights up on the Buzz site soon.
